Wine for the Fortnight – A Gruner Veltliner

OK it’s been more than a fortnight so I will try and play catch-up.  Recently I picked up an inexpensive Gruner Veltliner that I am liking more the I drink it.  It is a 2010 Austrian one from Paul Direder (labeled Paul D).  It has the bright fresh citrus flavors you would expect from a Gruner Veltliner but has more in the way of mineral after taste than I would expect at the price.  I got mine for under $12 for a one liter bottle.  It has a nice flowery smell and a bit of residual carbon dioxide to help keep it refreshing.
